Penina Championship Course
Par 73 6273 metres
Sir Henry Cotton’s masterpiece, near Alvor and Portimao, which has
been completely renovated, is once more justifiably considered to be
one of the best in Europe. It is a long but relatively flat course.
With numerous water hazards, large bunkers and contoured greens it
is a wonderful test of golf and a joy to play. Venue for the
Portuguese Open. |

Morgado do Reguengo

Morgado is one of the longest courses in the region. Situated 5kms
north of Portimao, with views of the Monchique mountains to the
north, the course is set amongst valleys, rivers and woodland with
gentle undulating fairways, deep bunkers and large greens. It is
wonderfully peaceful there and is a fine test of golf. The shorter
and very interesting Alamos Course is at the same venue. |

Vale da Pinta
Par 72 6151 metres
Set in an area of undulating land not far from the popular seaside
village of Carvoeiro, the two courses Pinta and Gramacho are the
work of a master of course design, Ronald Fream. Scattered with
almond, carob and olive trees - many centuries old - and with
natural rocky outcrops, Vale da Pinta is rated one of the best
courses in Europe. |

|
Gramacho
Par 72 6107 metres
The world famous star player, Nick Price, has teamed up with the
well-known golf course architect, Ronald Fream, to create a uniquely
designed 18-hole course with 27 varied greens that enable the golfer
to play the same course several times with different greens and new
challenges. The design technique has positioned the greens and
protective bunkers so that an 18-hole round is a genuine challenge.
The positioning of the tee markers helps to increase this variety
still further. The course, near Carvoeiro, is maintained at
tournament standard all the year round. |

Silves
Par 70 5618 metres
Silves, near the town of the same name, is a serene spot, but the
course isn’t easy. You have to contend with water hazards on your
first drive so you need to be accurate. Most holes offer a
spectacular mountain and valley view, overlooking palm trees and
olive groves. You may even pick a few oranges or even figs along the
way to the next tee. |
